Mealward AI · optional add-on
An AI co-pilot for your dietitians, cooks, and quality leads.
Optional AI features layered on top of Mealward's core meal-management workflow. Suggest a week's menu. Catch a dietary conflict before it leaves the kitchen. Generate Standard 6 evidence in a click. Available to opt into when your team is ready — the core product works perfectly without it.
Why we're built different
AI-native from day one — not a tab you bolt on later.
Built in the LLM era

Standard 6 first
What it does
Three workflows. One co-pilot.
AI menu cycle planner
Point Mealward AI at your resident profiles, texture rules, and kitchen constraints — it drafts a full week cycle in minutes, not hours. Suggestions respect IDDSI levels, dislikes, cultural preferences, and what actually sold last month. The dietitian reviews, tweaks, and publishes; nothing hits the floor without a human sign-off. Teams in early pilots report saving roughly two hours every week on cycle planning alone — time back for ward rounds, family calls, and the menu boards residents actually read.
Planned to save dietitians ~2 hours/week.
Dietary conflict checker
Every meal order is checked against the resident profile before it leaves the device — allergens, textures, fluid restrictions, and NACA Statement-of-Rights tags included. Conflicts surface in plain language at the point of order, so PCAs and GSOs can fix mistakes at the bedside instead of at the pass. Kitchen and dietitian teams get the same signal in real time. Checks run in under a second, so service flow on a busy Wednesday breakfast stays intact. Fewer wrong trays, fewer incident reports, fewer awkward retractions at the table.
Every order is checked in <1 second.
Standard 6 evidence narrative
When the auditor asks how you evidenced a resident choice, Mealward AI assembles a narrative from orders, profile changes, and approvals — tied to the resident, dated, and ready to export. No more stitching spreadsheets and email threads the night before a review. Quality leads stay in control: you approve what enters the record, and the system keeps the chain intact. Built for NACA Standard 6 and the aged-care quality standards your board already tracks.
Human-approved narratives for audit packs.
How it works
Human-in-the-loop by design.
Mealward AI reads the resident profile
Mealward AI proposes
Your team approves
AI never writes to your data without explicit approval from a Mealward user. The dietitian or quality lead is always in the decision seat.
Bring your own key
Your AI key. Your quota. Your policy.
BYOK for enterprise IT
Facility admins can store a Google AI (Gemini) or Anthropic API key in Settings. Keys are encrypted at rest and scoped to your facility — prompts never leave your chosen provider account.
Use Mealward's shared AI during a pilot, then switch to BYOK when procurement requires keys under your cloud billing and data-sovereignty rules.
Privacy unchanged
Per-resident AI consent toggles still apply. BYOK does not change who can see resident data — it only changes which API key signs the request.
No training on your data, whether you use shared AI or BYOK.
